We love all the unique gifts at the Hendley Market. Where else can you get soap from Provence, nativities from around the world and antiques in addition to the latest hip items? It's
our favorite place.

My favorite shops on The Strand are Maggies (I can always find great gifts for friends there), and Surf Styles, they have the best atmosphere and friendliest employees they love to help but are not pushy! I buy my bathing suit at Surf Styles every year and my daughter loves all their Roxy stuff.

Hurricane Reef is a wonderful addition to Galveston, as well as The Strand. Extremely Beautiful with great design! Also the most wonderful employees, the young lady was very helpful and willing to go way above and beyond.

The Admiralty is one of the coolest gift shops I've seen. I can't believe how much stuff I bought for our new beach house. I found inspired art, wonderful smelling candels and even dinnerware with a nautical theme. Love those little lighthouses, too!

I need some help. Recently went to Galveston to take a Carnival Cruise. Bought a bathing suit on The Strand, in a shop that had suits and mostly clothing. It was on a corner, but that's all I recall. The receipt does not have the name of the store or any other store information, and there is no name on the bag. Anyway, took the suit on the cruise and the first time I put it on the upper back tore (no, it was not tight). The suit was marked $90, but sold for $45. It was in the back of the store, a large size suit. Anyway, if anyone knows the name of this store would you please contact me at wordsalone2@hotmail. com. I could use any help I can get to return this item and get my money back. The only other things I can remember about the store were that it was on a corner, you had to walk up a few stairs to get into it, and on one side in the way back they had a ton of bikinis on the wall. The rest of the store had women's and men's clothing, pretty cheap stuff as I recall. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.

The Admiralty is the finest shop in South Texas. I especially like their manager, Bill Hill. He is always there to greet you with a handshake and a great smile, really makes my family and me feel very welcome. The selection is unparalled and their new website is one of the neatest I have ever seen. Great job Bill and crew!!

Douglas Mens Store in the Old Galveston Square building is a great mens store. Lots of reasonably priced good quality shirts, slacks, shoes, etc. I stopped on a cruise and they had several things I needed. The owner Doug was very helpful and a great guy to help me out.

I love Douglas Mens Store in the Old Galveston Square building next to Chicos. I found Skecher shoes for my 10 year old son, a hanging bag for my dresses, a no-iron dress shirt for my husband, and several Christmas gifts for family and coworkers. The owner and his staff were very helpful! I plan to visit every time I'm on The Strand. Sure beats any mall store!

The Front Parlor is the coolest shop I have seen on The Strand. They have the biggest collection of Lampe Berger Lamps that I have seen in the whole Houston area.

The Front Parlor is the "In" place to shop. Brighton, Lampe Berger, Pandora Jewelry, Emily Ray, Home Decor and much more. Why would you want to shop anywhere else. We drive all the way from Wimberley, Texas to shop there.

The Front Parlor Is such a great store. I'm from Alabama and I discovered The Front Parlor when our cruise ship docked. Let me tell you, this store was the highlight of our trip!I found a real cute ornament with "Galveston" on it to remember our trip by and we've hung it on our christmas tree every year since.

I am a Panamanian-American and am hoping someone out there can help me locate a store on The Strand that is or was owned by some Panamanians about 8 years ago, I don't remember the name of the store but if anyone has any information that could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Hey I tried that Bistro Lecroy place and it was god awful. Service was horrible and the staff was rude. Food was overpriced and marginal at best. For good food, head over to Post Office and try the Stork Club.

All of these messages tell of these shops on The Strand. I found most to be pretty similar with a few exceptions. Most stores are clothing, gift and souvenir shops or combination of the three. The most original store on The Strand that I found to be unlike any other store was Strand Emporium. This place sells food items, housewares, Texas gifts, beer/wine and a deli. Their sandwiches are a delight and did I mention they have over 90 different beers that can be opened and taken out of the store? I could go back all day and try many different beers that i have never seen. They also have a very neat wine room with a variety of Texas and other wines from around the world. I talked with the owners and they are a delight. They are new owners but promised me that everything will be expanding. They are looking to expand their Deli and the imported foods. The store also has a kaliepe(band organ)and other antiquemusic machines. The owners say they are having a hard time getting a repairman for these. This place is really unique with things to see everywhere. It is a wonderful place to hang out in the outside tables while the ladies go shopping!!!!

very interesting that all the comments on 'The Front Parlor' come within a few minutes of each other on a site that goes months between every other posting. The front parlor is cool and all, but come on people...I think they may be trying to toot their own horn.
