The National Historic Strand District is not only filled with great stores
and restaurants, but with great history, too. Just walking the streets you
can see old victorian architecture and buildings from the 1800s.
Look carefully and you may even find evidence of the The Great Storm of 1900.
If you crave more, The Strand has a variety of museums within walking distance.
There's a railroad museum, a Mardi Gras museum, the Galveston County museum,
the Seaport museum with the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa, and even the OceanStar
offshore drilling rig and museum.
Museum summaries follow below. At the bottom of the page is a map showing
the locations of all of The Strand's area museums.

For heaven's sake, include a photo of Elissa on your Web site!! She's beautiful, both historic and historical, photogenic, and a national treasure (officially as well as unofficially). Not to mention a heck of a tourist draw.

I agree with Ms. Gallaway. I am currently making a list of things to do in Galveston for a group of around 100 of my company's customers, and you should have a picture of the tall ship!
